Military and Overseas Citizens Registering And Voting

If you are an active-duty member of the U.S. military, a Merchant Marine member, a dependent of such individuals, or a U.S. citizen residing outside the United States, you are eligible to simultaneously register to vote and request an absentee ballot through the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA). This form is available through Voting Assistance Officers or can be accessed online at www.fvap.gov. Additionally, you may request this application from your local Supervisor of Elections by mail, fax, or email.

Once you have submitted your FPCA to request an absentee ballot, this request will remain valid for all elections through the end of the subsequent calendar year following the second regularly scheduled general election.

Absentee ballots are dispatched no later than 45 days prior to each election. Should you prefer, you may opt for delivery of your absentee ballot via fax or email instead of traditional postal mail. If you choose to provide an email address, the Supervisor of Elections will confirm receipt of your request and inform you of the anticipated date of ballot transmission, as well as acknowledge receipt of your completed ballot.

For the convenience of those who have requested an absentee ballot, its status can be monitored online. This functionality is accessible through the Division of Elections' Voter Information Lookup at www.elections.myflorida.com or by utilizing the “Track my Absentee Ballot” feature available through your local Supervisor of Elections.

If you do not receive your absentee ballot within two weeks of the election, it is strongly advised to promptly communicate with your county Supervisor of Elections for further guidance. In situations where Election Day is imminent and you have not received your absentee ballot, despite having requested one, you are still entitled to cast your vote for federal office races using the Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB). This backup option is available exclusively to active-duty uniformed services members, Merchant Marines, their dependents, and U.S. citizens residing overseas. The FWAB can be accessed and printed via a link provided for this purpose.
