Lincoln Park May Day Freedom Celebration: A Journey in Florida's Freedom Day of Enslaved People in Tallahassee on May 20, 1865, Eleven days after the end of the Civil War; and two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. The event is intended to educate the public on Florida's journey to Emancipation Proclamation and how Florida enslaved people were freed. This day-long event features a re-enactment of Union Soldiers riding into Tallahassee, and Union General Edward McCook reading the Emancipation Proclamation on the steps of the Knot House.
